Effective acne control should begin with an understanding of what acne is, as well as what causes it. Acne is a mild to serious inflammation of the skin, which in its more serious forms, if left untreated, can cause permanent scarring of the inflamed tissue. Some people think that acne is only a “teenager’s” problem, but nothing could be farther from the truth, as many adults suffer from this condition as well.
